the idea that no element of choice is involved in gayness/transness is only a useful idea to people who want to base gay politics in assimilation and apologia and eugenicists who want us to stop existing lol
also treating identities like fashion trends is cool and fun
to expound: the tenets of homophobia have nothing to do with “choice”, Homophobia is grounded in the idea that there is a Heterosexuality that is 1) natural 2) clean 3) sacrosanct, and that there then exists a Homosexuality that is its mirror image: unnatural, dirty, and unholy. Natural =/= ungoverned by the auspices of choice, and to begin with this arrangement exists as a form of primitive accumulation; as a system of policing the boundaries of gender norms that regulate the body politic, not a sincere, ontological disgust of us homos that is inborn into the straight mind.
Born this way is just a rhetoric borne out of a desperation, back when people like us were murdered and disappeared with impunity, it was an apologetic gesture to say “yes my sexuality is unclean, it is unnatural, it is unholy, but it is a result of variation; a mutation beyond my control that afflicts a small sector of the population, and I shouldn’t be menaced for this affliction”. That’s not a rhetoric that any self-respecting, modern gay person should be involving themselves in; we’ve progressed beyond the stage where that discourse has any value to us

This is a cranberry bog (unflooded) it’s how cranberries grow. Once they’re ripe, the blog is flooded and the cranberries harvested.
Basically by using big floaty things to round them all up and then scooping them out of the water.
