This is a bad post because it ignores who Crispus Attucks and the rest of the protesters were. The original revolutionaries were freedmen and indigenous people seeking an end to colonization. They were not on the side of the so-called American Revolution, they were demanding decolonization, and their struggle was used as propaganda by the Founding Fathers to show how horrible the British were despite the fact they owned slaves. The Brits were obviously in the wrong by shooting into a crowd, but let’s shut the fuck up about American patriotism. It’s just nationalism, and that’s not what Attucks and the other victims were interested in, nor were they interested in building a country where slavery would continue to exist into the new millennium.
