Strike to save the Earth

Less than 24 hours ago, u/homestar440 posted this post to the Chomsky subreddit. It discusses a transnational general strike to be known as Earthstrike, a strike to take place on the 15th of January 2019. 

The demands for the strike, as outlined so far, are the following: 

1. That all governments across the world take action to eliminate carbon dioxide emissions by 2040, and to drastically reduce non-carbon dioxide emissions by 2050, to achieve the best chance of avoiding anthropogenic global warming in excess of 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 degrees Fahrenheit) in line with projections put in the 2018 IPCC special report on global warming above 1.5 degrees Celsius.
2. That all governments take action to radically redistribute water, food, infrastructure and clean energy resources to mitigate and prevent poverty and loss of life in populations threatened by climate change.
3. That all governments across the world take action to build sustainable, egalitarian societies that improve living standards and shrink humanity’s ecological footprint.
