“Jesus was an anarchist/socialist/communist” obviously isn’t accurate in the sense that the political and social context in which Jesus lived is not equatable with the conditions that would later produce communist ideology. He wasn’t a socialist because there was no such thing at the time. He did express beliefs that could be called “proto-socialist” in some vague way and in that sense we shouldn’t ignore the long history of Christian heresies which took a very socialistic stance towards sex, wealth, property and labor based on a similar interpretation of Jesus.
In the modern day figures like Martin Luther King and Oscar Romero expressed similar ideologies but explicitly directed towards capitalism and the imperialist war machine. Both were assasinated as a result of their social gospel which in both cases ended up inspiring communist movements to become more active and militant.
Class conflict exists everywhere and the Church as a site of wealth and power has always had to deal with militant radicals who took the Good Word too seriously and had to be suppressed. This doesn’t make the history of Christianity good, as much as complicate our analysis of Christianity and its place within class society.
It’s Going Down – Mostly reportbacks and updates on current actions, not so much a good source for current events in politics or whatever else. Format: text and audio

I’m not an avid consumer of news so I don’t have a ton of experience with any of these, but they all generally put out good content. Further recommendations would be appreciated!
SIGNAL BOOST!!!! This is what’s happening in France right now. Highschoolers arrested in a terrifying way, head against a wall, because they protested against Macron’s policies. Video filmed by a police officer (who is very much NOT allowed to film teenagers without their consent). The officer you hear in the video says “Voilà une classe qui se tient sage”, which means “That’s a class that’s behaving.” Since the protests began, police violence became terrible especially against highschoolers – literal children. 700 highschoolers were arrested in France today. A teen is still in coma after a police officer shoot her with a flashball earlier this week. This is what Macron’s governement looks like.
Otherwise, I would think you’re too short because I FUCKING TOWER OVER YOU
I am frequently asked what my height is. I also get the shocked remark from a dude saying “Whoa…are we the same height?! Or are you taller than me?” Plus, the captain obvious “YOU’RE TALL” observation. I dislike being my height sometimes. I can’t wear heels because I skyrocket to 6’3” and am taller than most men while in them. I’m not a petite little pygmy.
Then I remember how fucking awesome I look and that I’d be fugly if I were any shorter. And I can be at the back of a crowd and I can still see what’s going on. But only on occasion, for there are tall male douchebags who like to block everyone’s view being in the front.
I don’t think there is a phrase I have been told more often than “you’re tall”
